Gravesend Golf Centre
30 kWp Solar PV system installed at Gravesend Golf Centre in Kent.
Ecolution installed a 30 kWp, Solar PV system at Gravesend Golf Centre, Kent in April 2015.
Gravesend Golf Centre has a fantastic 9 hole, Par 3 golf course with many tree lined fairways and small well-guarded greens. It is not only a great place for beginners to get their first taste of golf but also for the more experienced golfers to sharpen up their short game skills. The course is lit up with large flood lights giving customers the flexibility to play a game during the twilight hours. If customers are just looking to practice hitting some balls, Gravesend Golf centre have a 30 bay driving range, 15 of which have powered tees, which is also open during twilight hours. The Kent-based golf centre also has its own café and specialist golf store supplying the latest equipment from leading brands.
For Ecolution’s first installation on a golf club, we used CSUN polycrystalline 250W modules, Growatt 18K inverters and a K2 minirail mounting system that ensured a self-weathering fix to the steel profile roof.
Although the driving range floodlights are responsible for a considerable amount of the total electricity demand for the business, Gravesend Golf Centre’s busy café, pro shop and daytime lighting electricity demand is covered by the Solar PV system. Gravesend Golf Centre were able to take advantage of the Feed-in Tariff income in order to subsidise the night time grid electricity costs for the floodlights.
The business was looking to stream line their costs as much as possible which is why they turned to Solar PV. With this installation Gravesend Golf Centre is generating approximately 28,685 kWh free electricity per year with C0₂ savings of 15,174 Kg.
This installation is a great example of how electricity savings and Feed-in Tariff income can work together to use your roof to cut your business running costs.
