26.9 kWp Solar PV system installed on a 16 storey tower in Lewisham.

In June 2015 Ecolution installed a 26.9 kWp solar PV system on a 16 storey tower in Lewisham, South East London for Neotek Electrics and design and build contractors.

On this flagship development comprising of a total of 788 apartments and a leisure centre, we installed ST Polycrystalline solar panels on a bespoke mounting system.

This mounting system, designed in partnership with Sunfixings, was a creative solution to hit the building’s solar PV target system size whilst avoiding shading from a tall parapet wall and rising above other rooftop plant.

The height of the building meant complicated wind loading and uplift calculations, which limited the types if mounting systems we could use. The project was originally specified with a system mounted to individual I-beams which met the requirements but was costly to install.

At Ecolution we have a close partnership with solar mounting specialist Sunfixings, so our experienced design team worked closely alongside them to design and fabricate a bespoke mounting system that met all the requirements for a challenging site. This meant that the solar PV system also received the full warranty from the product manufacturers which an improvised system would not have.

With Ecolution’s combined knowledge and close partnerships we have built up over 16 years within the renewables industry we were able to save the client cost on the installation and ensure that it was of a higher quality and full guaranteed.

This solar PV installation on average generates 22,869 kWh of free electricity per year with C0₂ savings of 12097 Kg. Ecolution installed smart metering which gives half-hourly generation data and diagnostic information via any web browser.
