59.60 kWp Solar PV system installed across multiple homes in West Sussex.
Ecolution installed a total of 59.60 kWp solar photovoltaic systems, across 49 new residential houses with contractor’s Acheson Construction and Hastoe Group, in Chichester, West Sussex.
Hastoe are a housing association who take responsibility for protecting the environment very seriously, particularly when building new homes and retrofitting existing ones. They have adopted innovative, green approaches to construction with a view to bringing them into the mainstream of affordable development. All of their new developments meet the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
The new 1, 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes are built on a former army barracks for both private and housing association tenants. The site has a sympathetic ecological landscape design with mature trees and open spaces and the properties are built to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, Lifetime Homes and Secured by Design standards. The development incorporates sustainable and renewable technologies including bio-mass district heating and rainwater harvesting and Solar PV. This means that the homes produce approximately 50% less carbon dioxide than homes simply built to building regulations standards.
Ecolution won the contract for the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) across phases 3 &4. The contractors wanted to integrate their sustainability model through Solar Photovoltaic systems but not compromise on the aesthetic look of the homes. This was one of the reasons why they awarded Ecolution the contract for this site due to our in-roof mounting system design using monocrystalline all back panels which blend nicely with new homes black roof tiling.
Affordable homes and sustainability were the main focus for this new build site, meaning that they needed to provide a solution for cheaper living costs in the long term, for Hastoes low income tenants to live in. This is why Solar PV was chosen as it provides both residents of Roussillon Park with free electricity during the day which reduces their energy bills for years to come but also meets sustainability standards for the property.
These Solar Photovoltaic systems at Roussillon Park are now producing in total 50,660 kWh free electricity per year for the residents. They also collectively have C0₂ savings of 26,799.14 kg per annum.
