FROM GAS TO AIR! – HEAT PUMPS VS GAS CENTRAL HEATING

Here in the UK we have become so used to gas central heating that even considering a different source of energy doesn’t cross people’s minds.

However, with renewable energy become more readily available and more prominent within the UK, the government is trying to entice more people to make the switch to renewables with its renewable heat incentive. This incentive aims to discourage us from using gas and oil heating systems and encourage us to switch to more carbon friendly, renewable options such as heat pumps.

An air source heat pump is an alternative form of heating which delivers lower fuel bills but also reduces your carbon footprint, this technology essentially takes the air from outside and converts it to heat and cool your home or business.

There’s no doubt, that air source heat pumps are starting to attract more attention and they’re worth investing in if you want to improve your heating efficiency, EPC rating and have a greener home. Allot of new build properties now electric supply only meaning they have no gas supply at all as builders and developers are now turning to heat pumps as a more efficient and cheaper alternative.

To give you more of an idea how they work we thought it would be wise to let you know there are two different types of pumps you can invest in depending on what you primarily wish to use this renewable technology for:

Air to water -

This type of system distributes heat via your wet central heating systems involving a boiler or heat exchanger and radiators. As heat pumps work more efficiently at lower temperatures compared to a traditional boiler system, it makes them ideal for underfloor heating or radiators as they give out heat at lower temperatures over longer periods of time.

Air to air –

This type of system distributes the warm air via fans in order to heat your property. This type of system is unlikely to be able to provide your property with hot water as well.

WHY CHOOSE AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

These systems are highly sought after as an alternative to gas and in return for investing in one, you get a system that has a low carbon footprint and will deliver all the heating and hot water your property could need. As well as this ASHP’s are generally low maintenance only requiring an annual service to ensure the system is running at optimum performance.

Luckily here at Ecolution, we not only install air source heat pumps but we also provide both planned maintenance as well as operations and maintenance contracts to ensure we offer a complete 360 services from installation to maintenance.

So, if we have peaked your interest in this exciting and revolutionary renewable technology systems get in touch with one of our dedicated team members who will be happy to discuss installation options and maintenance with you today!
